The Wichita Independents relies on parents and other volunteers for coaching. Since the Special Olympics are a not for profit organization, none of the coaches are paid. To become a coach, you first need to fill out the volunteer form so the Wichita Independents can have it on file. The more coaches we have the better we can help the athletes reach their full potential. Coaches devote hours of their time every week reaping the benefits of watching the joy on the athletes faces as they compete. So parents don't be afraid to volunteer, we can use you.
Besides being a coach there are quite a number of other ways to volunteer. We can always use volunteers to help chaperone on trips, to help with fundraisers, help get equipment or other supplies to practices or tournaments, and/or just bringing snacks and drinks.
Anything that helps support the athletes of The Wichita Independents is greatly appreciated.
